WELCOME THROUGH MY RED DOOR!
I have never really decorated for Halloween and especially never set a table for Halloween, but since starting my new tablescaping hobby, of course I have to set one now! Unfortunately though I don’t have a lot of Halloweeny stuff with which to set that table!
I called a few friends to see what I might be able to borrow for this occasion and had to leave messages. By the time they got back to me I had already done what ended up being my Halloween tablescape.
This ceramic jack-o-lantern is what I usually put out on the front porch for the tricker treaters on Halloween night, but it is ALL I have that represents this ‘holiday’.
Except for the centerpiece, which is exploding with fall colors, the place settings looked a bit drab. So I had to come up with something else to convince someone that this was a Halloween celebration.
So cleaning out from under the furniture provided ping pong balls the kitties had tossed around the room. Included in that mess was all the wadded up balls of paper and bottle caps that serve as their favorite toys.
As if on cue, they promptly tried to swish that mess back under the furniture.
From the ping pong balls came ghosty napkin rings!! Maybe not too original, but they sure came in handy to set the mood.
Isn’t it scary?!!
Now, I think anyone would be able to tell that this is a table set for a Halloween meal, minus witches, spiders, bats and all the usual creepy stuff!
The layered look is comprised of a black woven placement, white charger, black dinner plate, flowered salad plate and alternated yellow and burnt orange soup bowls.
This is why I love fall; all the color combinations, endless possibilities.
Oh Livvy was too anxious to get in the picture; she didn’t change into her black cat costume!! See her back there, that sneaky little kitty!
From above, the complete view!
Now I can’t wait to see your Halloween tables!
Thanks for visiting with me today.
I’m joining Tablescape Thursday, see you there!
Great table. I love your centerpiece, the jack-o-lantern is perfect and so are all the pretty fall leaves and pumpkin. Your place settings are a stunning combination. Making the ghost napkin rings is so clever. Love it. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThank you Marty~
ReplyDeleteBeen thinking about you a lot as I am in Scottsdale at the moment! Wondering if all the stores I've been seeing as I travel between here and Phoenix are ones you shop at! I've never seen so many stores!

For not having any Halloween stuff you sure set a gorgeous table. I love it and those ping pong ball ghosts napkins are just the most clever cute idea. Thanks so much for stopping by. Now I am off to look at more of your blog.

This is one of my favorites. I love the way it all came together, and I think you used JUST the right amount of Halloween on the table. The actual place settings are perfect, and I love your clever idea of using the ping pong balls to make the ghosts.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you picked up this hobby of tablescaping. I can already tell from the ones you've done that you are going to be a favorite tablescaper (or as well can it "porch person" ) mine. I love your style.
Marvelously done! you showed tremendous creativity! I just love your dishes - so dramatic and elegant! Love the kitties :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic job,
Kathy
You made it all work, and it is adorable.
ReplyDeleteToo hilarious that you thought of incorporating the cats' pingpong balls into your tablescape -- but so, so clever! You really did a fab job making the table both beautiful and holiday-appropriate!
ReplyDeleteWho needs alot of items to create a halloween feel? Sometimes just one item tricks your mind into thinking differently. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWonderful table! You blended Halloween perfectly into your table!
ReplyDeleteYour "nail soup" (remember that old folk story?) Halloween table looks absolutely fantastic! I'm not a huge Halloween person, either, so I understand not having a lot to play with. You did a magnificent job using the fall colors and combinations on hand! I hope you have a safe and fun Halloween!!!
ReplyDeleteOops...forgot to say how much I love the little ghostly napkin rings! It was really funny how the cats scrambled to try and hide the evidence!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute and clever! I love your little ghosts with the napkins. I have that same Jack-o-Lantern! Fun to see him on your table as well.
