WELCOME THROUGH MY RED DOOR!
Maybe some of you have noticed that I haven’t posted anything since Thanksgiving! It’s true! It wasn’t by choice. The day after Thanksgiving my computer screen blacked out and I didn’t get it back from being repaired until the day after New Years! But I have to say, it took a little of the pressure off of putting up all the posts I had hoped to.
I started blogging in July and haven’t published much. November was my busiest month, 7 posts, yahoo!! I really did want to end 2010 with a bang by at least tying November. As it turns out, as you can see, I posted nothing. I didn’t even get to do any visiting. I still have a ton of catching up to do there too!
I did, however, take a few pictures around the house, managed a tablescape and pondered whether to post late or save them for next year. I decided to go ahead and put them all in one post. So here it is:
I call this MY tree. It’s decorated with apples and pears and a pineapple on top. It’s my version of a Colonial Williamsburg tree. It stands in the living room, where I can sit with all the rest of the lights off and relax in front of it with a cup of tea. We didn’t get a tree up in the family room this year, which is usually decorated with colored lights and keepsake ornaments for the rest of the family. Next year!
We had our Christmas day dinner at this table. At the time I was taking the pictures, I wasn’t thinking blogging, since I didn’t have a computer, so these pics are lacking!
Look, I didn’t even finish setting it before I started taking pictures. What was I thinking? Obviously, not blogging!
And on January 8 we had our Christmas with my husband’s family at this table.
I made a few changes, not many.
I used the same centerpiece…but added the cardinals.
Stacked a few more layers.
A little gift for each family member, sits inside the soup bowl.
A dessert plate,
A salad plate,
A dinner plate,
Another, for those who want seconds!
And a charger.
My favorite bird, the cardinal.
I mentioned to my husband one day while we were out Christmas shopping that I’d like to find some cardinals to work into some tablescapes and he surprised me with a set of three that I used in this centerpiece! He did good!
Some more Christmas decorating; the tree,
On the dining room sideboard,
The living room,
The Advent wreath.
The foyer,
The family room,
So, although I’m a little late with my holiday wishes, they are just as heartfelt. I wish you all the happiest New Year ever!
I am finally going to join these parties again, wonder if I remember how! Please be sure to stop by Table Top Tuesday and Tablescape Thursday.
Thanks so much for visiting. I’ve missed visiting you and will be popping in soon. I’m so behind!
Sheila
Ironically, I was JUST going through my blogger dashboard list thingie last evening to see if I had missed blogs, and I noted you specifically as one who had not posted in a while. I'm so GLAD to discover that it was technical and that you didn't leave blogland.
ReplyDeleteI love every beautiful picture, and the fact that it is past the Christmas season makes me like them all the more. My brain isn't overloaded with Christmas.
I am nuts about your birch log centerpiece for that table. When you add the cardinals (Husband did GREAT, btw), it just looks perfect.
Loved the tables both ways, but really, really loved it when you started the stacking.
Welcome back. Great post full of wonderful Christmas ideas!
Sheila, I'm so glad you decided to post your Christmas pics! Even though you weren't "thinking blogging," when taking them, they give some great ideas. I hope you gave Husband an extra big hug for those cardinals! They add the perfect touch to your centerpiece! I couldn't help but notice your beautiful damask tablecloth, too... Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteWow, Sheila, these are lovely! (I especially like the additional plate for those who want seconds!) I look forward to following your updates. Dobbs
